Don't Teach Money Games to Kids.

I agree with her and her mids looks like my parents' minds. This book is not "how-to" books. There are many books to educate kids and how to pass famous schools. I'd be better if more schools examins the minds or thoughts of students. Only the Tokyo University in Japan has the entrance examination to write small essays for both literature and science students. I hope many famous schools in Japan should have examinatios to write essays or have an interview in order to increase thoughtful students and parents.
However, she is MD of Goldman Sacks in Japan and graduated from the Harvard University. Her opinion seems so hard for many parents.

Subprime Problem in Japan

Some people say there would be less subprime problems in Japan. However, others say there are some subprime problems in Japan. There are many people who have two kinds of issues.
  • Many people chose the step-up mortgae loans 10 years ago. The interests of the mortgage loans will be increased from now. Some of them will not be able to pay the increaed interests.
  • Other people chose variable rates after the first 2 years' fixed rates. The fixed rates were lower than ordinary because the financial institutions were preferred and opted.

Extinguishment of LTCB

As you might know, the Long Term Credit Bank of Japan was collapsed in 1998. Tsuneo Suzuki was the last CEO. Though he was accused and he was lost in the first and second courts, he won the supreme court in 2008. He wanted to write down the story of the LTCB's collapse on this book.
Now we are facing on the larger financial crysis than 10 years ago's Japan. And some larger financial institutions went bankrupts or were nationalized last year in the world. Many countries had a lough at Japan, but they haven't learned anything from Japan.

Giants vs Dragons @ Tokyo Dome

My aunt sold me the tickets for the baseball game of Giants vs Dragons today. I invited my parents in law to the game because my wife hates baseball but my parents in law love baseball very much.

Microsoft Chronicle

Microsoft has established the de facto standard of PC in 1990's. If you've been interested in PC, you don't need to read this book, but you didn't mind PC, I recommend to read this book because Tom Sato will explain how to make de facto standards from the chronicle of technology wars.

UQ WiMAX

UQ Communications is a high-speed wireless Internet provider. They launched the high-spped mobile service "UQ WiMAX" in March 2009 in the Tokyo area. About 1000 people has tested the high-speed mobile service.
UQ Communications put out a call for another 1000 testers on April 3rd. I won the tester with a mobile router. It's interesting. I don't use any high speed services, because high-speed services are expensive. The tester's fees will be free until the end of June 2009. However, I will quit the service before July, because I don't need any high speed mobile connections. The low speed mobile service is enough for me because I use only check email, news, the weather out of home or office.

Jacked Up

If you've read "WINNING" by Jack Welch, I recommend to read this book strongly because Jack welch explained his business mind and methods. However, I could not get how to show the passions. Bill Lane tells Jack Welch did his real business. He tells many, many very important minds, methods and passions for business.

Reviewing Points before Presentation
  • What is useful for my audiences?
  • Is my presentation necessary for needs of my audiences?
  • Are my audiences interested in my presentation within 1 minute when my presentation starts?
  • Are deleted all unnecessary details, headlines not to understand easily and geek's words?
  • Do I need my charts and graphs really? Do I have enough time to talk with my audience?
  • Can my all audience read the letters and numbers?
  • Can I shorten my contexts without deleting important points?
  • Have I had rehearsals? Have I got comments from my respected persons?
  • Have I done rough works?
  • Do I want to make a presentaion for Jack Welch as soon as possible though I felt tensions and stresses when I prepared? Am I sure that my presentation is success?

The Best American Science Writing 2007

My most interesting content is "Manifold Destiny" which wrote on the "Poincare conjecture". I don't have enough knowledge to understand the "Poincare conjecture", however I watched the documentary of NHK Special on the Japanese public broadcast. The "Manifold Destiny" is the original writing of the documentary. The documentray is very understandable for topology beginners.
Perelman could sckech the conjecture with his pure passion for mathematics which he rejected the Fields Medal, I think.

The Earth After Us

I haven't read any geologic books in English. I could get some geologic words. However, Jan Zalasiewics explains some geologic knowledge. Our human beings' history is much shorter than the long histroy of the Earth. After one hundred million years, some species may find some remains. We could meet aliens before elimination of human being on the Drake equation.
L is the length of time such civilizations release detectable signals into space.

Legal Work in China for Beginners

Yoshio Iteya tells the very hard legal works in China. There are many Japanese companies which work in China and with Chinese companies. Actually some my friends go to China for thier business frequently. Some of them are working for IT business like me. However, I have not been in the mainland of China. As far as I read this book, it'd be better to use bridge comanies in Japan. It'd be hard to take care or the legal work in China and the changing legal works.

Collaboration

Collaborations with companies are very important for small business. It'd be hard for small business to gather enough talented people or human power. However, collaborations are also very important tor teams or individuals in large companies. Only one person or team can't achieve any goals.

Outdoor Cooking in the Showa Kinen Koen Park

My family went to go to the Showa Kinen Koen Park because the park was free today, and we enjoyed the outdoor cooking in the BBQ area in the park. Many groups enjoy BBQ, too. We tried to cook
- Cream Risotto with Mushed Green Beans
- Broiled Pork  with Tomato & Onion & Basil Sauce
- Mushed Potato mixed with Cod Ovum
They were very delicious. Especially, my kids said "Umai! (Delicious)" again and again.

Can English Educations in Japan be Successful?

The Ministry of Educations, Cultures, Sports and Technologies in Japan decided to start the English class from the fifth and sixtth grade of the primary school.
The goal is that students pass the second grade of the Eiken druing the high school. The government plans almost all student will be able to communicate in English if the goal is realized.
It's really doubt because there would be much more Japanese who can communicate in English. About 20,000 people passed the 2nd grade last year. There would be more than half of million people. However almost all people can't communicate in English..

Educational Industory in Japan

To take entry examinations for the big-name junior high schools is popular in Japan. many parents believe it'd be the frst step for the big-name universities. The educational industories makes the boom. However, the boom has brought good students to gather in some private schools actually. Parents who didn't believe the trend also make their kids take the entry examinations at last. I also have to make my kids go to the private school, don't I?
I wish my kids to enjoy learning many things in their lives both inside/outside of the school. It's my duty for my kids. I'll teach my kids by myself as much as possible.

Making Globalization Work

Joseph Stiglitz is the winner of the Nobel Prize in Economy 2001. He tells how to aid the developing countries. The developped countries must help, assist and contribute to the poverties, he said. However, now the global economy in all developed countries has been collapsed. He wrote this book in 2007, and so the situations is changed so much. In addition, the global economy and governments has been focusing on the eco-technologies and the global warming issue more than the poverty. Both are important, but the ecological issues are not only for human beings, but also for all creatures on the earth. On the other hand, the poor people might have to consume forests in order to survive. Though I've contribute small money into unicef and WWF for about 20 years, I have to contribute more with other methods, too.

MICROTRENDS

Mark J. Penn and E. Kinny Zalesne tells many small trends in the United States. The authors says they are micro, but I think they're not micro because the trends have been picked up on this book. Meanwhile, there are many trends I'm interested. Some of them have not been still occurred in Japan. On the other hand, some of them have been occurred in the world. The authors also tells some situations on the trends in the world. Mammonis, for instance, has been an issues in the world. In Japan, we call the issue "Parasite Singles". This book was written in 2007, and so these trends would be changed much after the financial crisis.

New Style Strategy

Jyo Sakai said he told two new things on "strategy" on this book. The first new thing is that strategy should be built by bottom-up. The second new thing is that business people should decide their start point, their goal and the way from the start to goal.
If they were something new, nobody could believe it. As far as I see the history, Each Japanese military unit decided own strategy, and the units sometimes overdrove and were wiped out finally. He doesn't seem that, does he? The bottom-up strategy has both prod and cons. It's been one of the Japanese characteristics.

If you saw Laozi,

A girl sees a senior person in a field. The senior person would be "Laozi". The style of this book looks "Sophie's World". Laozi explains his quotes easily during he was talking with the girl. When I read his quotes after the financial crisis was caused, his quotes are really impressed.
I prefer this 57th quote during this crisis and wars agains terrors.
Use fairness in governing the state.
Use surprise tactics in war.
Be unconcerned and you will have the world.
How do I know it is like this?

Because:
The more regulations there are, The poorer people become.
The more people own lethal weapons, The more darkened are the country and clans.
The more clever the people are, The more extraordinary actions they take.
The more picky the laws are, The more thieves and gangsters there are.

Therefore the sages say:
I do not force my way and the people transform themselves.
I enjoy my serenity and the people correct themselves.
I do not interfere and the people enrich themselves.
I have no desires
And the people find their original mind.

It's hot today. The temperature is about 21℃(70°F). I and my kids go to swimming at the public inside swimming pool in Shibuya. It's the first time for me this year, and so I swim slowly and leisurely for about 1600 meters (1 mile).

Akinobu Okada

Akinobu Okada was the head coach of Hanshin Tigers in the Japan Professional Baseball. Tigers is the most popular team in Japan. Tigers had the 12 games advantage for the 2nd team. However, Tigers couldn't win the last season finally. Tigers also lost in the post season. Mr. Okada decided to resign the head coach.
He tells the inside stories from his rookie year to his resignation. He also tells the top management shoud have the strong mind and decision that are hardly ever changed.
BTW, I haven't been in the koshien Stadium. I had a chance two years ago, but I could not go because I was ill...

Lilliput

Lilliput is the first island of the Gulliver's Travels.
Two Japanese philosophers Kiyokazu Washida and Tatsuru Uchida discussed Japan as the Lilliput. The Japanese has built up this country to be able to run without grown people.
Everybody complains who establish such a terrible society though the society has been built by ourselves.
Both philosophers also mentioned almost all Japanese would misunderstand "free speech". Some politicians and journalists doesn't say "free speech" is allowed in Japan. But it's allowed completely. Both defined "free speech" is a place to disscuss with deep respects.

Public Library Master

Tsutomu Kuji tells haow to use public libraries effectively. Japan is the 4th country of the scale of public libraries in the world. However, the quality has been lower because the both national and local government budgets for the public libraries has been decreased.
I would also one of the master to use the public libraries. My family borrow more than 500 books every year. My software to extract only today's new coming books into the public libraries are very useful.

There are 99 public airports in Japan. Do you think whether the airports would be too many or not. As you might imagine easily, there are not enough airports near large cities such as Tokyo and Osaka, but there are more rural airports than is necessary...
By the way, I love the technologies of the Space and Aviation because the technologies and systems are so high. There are many best idea for computer sciences.

Cherry Blossom Festival 2009

Today the cherry blossoms are perfect. The Cherry Blossom Festival in 2009 were held at my local town. I went to the Fujitsu Kawasaki Factory with my family. When I was back by bicycle along the Futagaryo-Yosui Stream, the cherry blossoms and others were so beautiful. I tried to take these video on my bicycle though it's not a good manner. :)

The Royal Warrant

If you want to the Royal Warrant, you search the words "By Appointment to". Only three, the Queen, the Duke and the Prince, can appoint. The three have to use for five years at least and certify. It's so severe.
There are some the Royal Warrant in Japan, but they're not official. There was the warrant Japan until 1954, but it's repealed.

How to Ace the Brain Teaser Interview

"How Would You Move Mt.Fuji?" is the best seller in the world. The recruting interview style in the west coast became famous in the world.
John Kado tells more cult quiz for the recruting interview. However, please don't understand it'd be important to reply the true answer only. I have to explain the reasons why I choose or lead my answer from some options. My logical and easy understanding explanations must be most important.
The cult quizzes seem lazy, but it seems much better than April Fool.
